I bought a Zoom H2 Portable Stereo Recorder today after reading about its excellent sound quality. Does anybody use one who can tell me things I should know before I use it?
In conjunction with my greetings thread, what would be the easiest and cheapest way to send multiple audio greetings?
In your experience, what is the biggest mistake newbies make when creating a podcast?
I get asked that question a lot as well. I found a great answer which I'm posting here:
"There really is no such thing as a going rate for podcast production, so there's no answer to what the quote should be. The talent and experience of producers, and the resources of clients, vary dramatically; so should the rates producers charge.
I get asked this all the time. "So, Doug, what do you think is the future of media/radio/online etc."
I have a standard answer. "I don't know because I'm sitting in the middle of it."
Some quick observations from the last few months of managing three converged media projects and assessing another and talking with hundreds of people attending these conferences.
Hi there...
I'll be back out on the road starting this weekend.
On Sunday, we begin the student multimedia project at the annual Native American Journalists Association conference held this year in Albuquerque NM.
We'll start with an afternoon training for students and mentors in Audio, Photo and then Video. Students have pitched ideas to our Managing Editor. They'll work on those ideas across platforms and we'll be live blogging once the conference starts later in the next week.
Hello all:
It's the time of year when I'm on the road a lot. I'm writing this from Los Angeles as I'm mentoring a young man who won a grant through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and a contest called "MQ2." He wants to cover local governments through social networks and mobile technologies.
We talked about this on the Live Chat yesterday. Let's say that you have a great audio story to tell, and you have excellent sound and all the rest.
Where, besides NPR, can that kind of audio storytelling go? Do we need to create our own podcasts? Or start up a website and hope that people come to listen?
Doug, your wisdom would be helpful here.
Hello all:
I still want to call it "radio." Will the term go away? Maybe, maybe not. But, Radio or Audio are terms for the end of the process. In this space, we'll go all the way to the begining of the process.
