In Other Words

It's been over a year since I cleared out my work desk, and in looking through overstuffed drawers I found a pretty special reminder: it's a newspaper clipping from a few years ago that I photocopied and then posted on my cubicle wall for many years.  The passage come from a periodical from my home state named The Oklahoma Observer  and I found it so striking that I placed it not on the inside of my cubicle wall, but on the outside of it.

The article ended with:

"Get a job, any job...early.  Learn to work, be on time and dress properly.  Become a leader and learn to take charge.  Be a thoughtful and cautious risk taker. Earn money.  Save and invest money for the future. Try to work with people who are great at what they do.  Being in their shadow will help you grow and develop.  Learn to deal with failure, which comes with life.  Those who can get back up after being knocked down will succeed in life.  Never give up.  Tomorrow is another day and another chance for success."

That came from Dr. Vince Orza, a man with a Phd who ran for the office of Governor of State of Oklahoma, twice.

He never won.
