The web is full of interesting information, as my husband would say.

He’s the polite one. I label it weird, gross, wacky, hilarious, jaw-dropping, boring, entertaining, informative and occasionally useful.

None of those adjectives quite do justice to Fathom. Left up to their description, Fathom Information Design helps clients understand and express complex data through information graphics, interactive tools, and software for installations, the web, and mobile devices.

The team consists of dudes from the MIT Media lab, Emmy and Gracie Award winners (who also produced programming for NBA), mathematicians, program designers, and science writers.

The product is a site that produces a tool to track triathalon training, a community health iPad app, determine salary v performance in baseball  and my all-tiome favorite, a recipe book to build all of MacGyver’s cool gadgets along with information on how often he used it and in which episodes.
